2009 Yahoo - Pro Football Pickem - Contest - Prizes

My mom is a hardcore lions fan...and when I told her about this pick em contest even she said "you didn't pick the lions, did you?" lol.

Well, I'm 13-1 for the week so far, and I think the W's are a lock for tomorrow night too. Not being arrogant, but I'm pretty happy about my picks this week.
I know people will think I'm BS'ing, but I am really not surprised by the Niner's victory, and it was almost an upset I was going to predict. My only reasoning behind not picking them (SF), is that I figured everyone else was going to pick AZ anyways. So I figured even if AZ lost, I wouldn't be dropped any in the runnings, as everyone most likely picked AZ as well, and picking SF could be detrimental in the long run had they lost, because it would've put everyone who picked AZ +1 on me, which is practically everyone.
Strategically Arizona was the best pick, but my gut was thinking upset... but I'll just watch some NFL replay to digest my plan of attack for next week, and hopefully come back with another strong week.

Good luck everyone, and I hope your teams won... sort of :)!

The Cards were the "worst team to ever make the playoffs" last year, so it shouldn't surprise anybody that they lost to the 49ers. I think they beat the Cards last year too. I was just hoping they didn't revert back to their ways of old...they did!

Yes, they DID lose to the Niners... BUT I was hoping for the PLAYOFF cards as opposed to the "Whoa, we stumbled into the playoffs for the first time in, like EVER, so let's win some games!" Cards...

THEY will be difficult to pick for this year. Never know which team will show up!

Is the new stadium as sweet as it looks on TV? I went to many games at Sun Devil Stadium, but moved before the new "toaster" was built. I'm trying to get tickets for a game while I'm out there for Christmas break...I think they play the Rams on Dec. 27th. :puke01:

its very nice but then im one of those who likes sun devil stadium, something about it. glendale sucks, its far and there really isnt much out there. tailgating is good though w/ the "great lawn" they have a rally out there every pre-game. the whole barrel cactus inspiration makes since but it does look a little goofy but thats just a personzal opinion. inside the birds nest its very nice, like i said, especially if you're used to the 20k fans at sun devil stadium. now its loud, they actually have a fan base, the field is in great shape, no bleacher seats, which is huge lol.

I like the new Cardinal's stadium or "bird's nest"... but it looks like a blimp that crashed into the ground but is still somewhat inflated... What the heck kind of architecture is it anyway???

Inside it is AWESOME! Nice and comfy, plenty of room, well organized. Of course, I like it better than Sun Devil Stadium, but I HATE HEAT... so that is a big deal to me. LOL.

haha i agree.

The Cardinals weren't a fluke last year, make no mistake about it. They got hot at the right time, and earned every victory they had. They just need to reestablish their identity, which is making sure Fitzgerald and Boldin get the ball consistently. Boldin was open on more than one occasion, and Fitzgerald needs that threat on the other side to achieve his personal success. Fitzgerald is by far the best red zone WR I've ever seen, but he is also a play maker all over the field too. They couldn't get in rhythm enough last night to showcase that aspect, so they were left one step behind SF all night.
Let's also not forget who this division really belongs to, and that is Seattle. If Arizona can't win their games against SF, than they really have no chance of a playoff contention. Seattle is looking good with Hassleback healthy, given it was against STL, but they played well offensively, defensively, and established a potent run game. Arizona is just not complete enough to compete at this point.
Trust me though, Hightower and Wells will break out this year, the Defense will come together once again, and the receiving core will return to normal. Remember, Boldin wasn't there all of training camp, so Fitzgerald and Warner were accustom to having a different style of play. The Cardinals can certainly make a run again, and have just as good of a chance at the SB as last year. They just need to establish themselves much earlier, because they do have a target on their backs, and Seattle won't just roll over for the division like they did last year.

I don't know, Michael. I kinda lean towards FLUKE... and I LIKE them. We'll see as the season progresses.

Just great... Another thing we need. The Bills are currently giving the Pats the fits!!! Bills 7 - Pats 0. Lot a game ahead, but THIS would be a huge upset... that I didn't pick! :(

I Gar-own-tee a Pats victory, don't worry about that. The jerseys on the other hand... Garbage :)!

As for the Cards... I wouldn't label it a fluke at all. They were VERY close to going all the way, and the super bowl is a game of excellence that cannot be cheated by chance. The Cardinals WILL figure out a working game plan, it's just a matter of when they do, because they don't have the luxury of being guaranteed the division like last year. Other than Kurt getting older, I think they are an improved team. They now have two RB's with loads of potential, and a better understanding of how to win games. Give it time, they have the tools, it's time that's not on their side!

WHAT IS UP? Man, I can't stand all of these BS calls! Seriously, this is the NFL, and I m sick of all of these ticky tack fouls going on in this NE vs Buf game. That flag against Wilfork... BS. Flag on Thomas... BS. Flag on Whitner... BS. They need to stop with all of these overly dramatic "Roughing the Passer" flags, and "Late Hit" flags. This is the NFL, LET THEM PLAY!!!
