2009 Yahoo - Pro Football Pickem - Contest - Prizes

Sadly, I picked the final score to be 34-31 for the Giants.

How sad I am that the 'Boys couldn't pull out the victory :(

YAY! Giants won. The only good thing about two field goals is watching the Cowboys hearts break twice, a deserved repercussion to the stupid time outs to "ice the kicker". All the Eli haters can go home now, he's legit.

I had it 24-21 for the Giants.

Cowboy's are one of my least favorite times, so this is definitely not a yipugh for me...it's a full blown yippee!

As long as Indy wins tomorrow, I'll have made 50% for this week...considering my horrible start, I'll take it.

Well, that was no good for me! :( I did OK this week, but not as good as i'd like. Now all I need is for Indianapolis to win tomorrow, and i'll be slightly happier. What a week of upsets, though! 9 of the underdogs won their games this week.

I like Eli (he's a Manning!)... but I just can't stand the Giants, Divisional rivalries and all.

I need the Colts to win tomorrow. Should be in the bag, but with the way things have been... Ugh.

I HAVE come to the conclusion that Dallas had better look for a new QB... Romo is NOT the QB we need. We need one that protects the ball AND has a FIRE in his belly. You see him when he sat down... smiles and shrugs... Roger Staubach walked up and down the sideline motivating players. Talking about how to get things going. Troy Aikman did the same. Ben R. does it. Peyton Manning does it. Tom Brady does it. Romo... sit down... watch the TV... and it SHOWS... GRRRR... If I weren't from Texas I'd really HATE this team. LOL. :) Romo infuriates me in his "apparent" lack of DRIVE.

(Just venting guys... I'm a true blue Cowboy fan!).

I completely agree with you! I was just thinking this exact thing watching the end of the game. With the running game the Cowboys have, they don't need a great QB, just one that doesn't lose the game for them.

I hear ya' Fred. Romo gets a lot of praise for his "intangibles", but I need to see more consistency when he drops back. He's got some major weapons, and a great line, run game, etc... so all he has to do is get the ball out accurately, and consistently.
I'm not sure they could find a better QB any time soon, but it's hard to see them living up to their potential with him at QB. His stat lines look decent, but he just seems to come up short when it counts. And like you said, he doesn't have the "fire" that the great QB's have.
On a positive note though, I love the Barber/Jones tandem. They looked great out there, and Felix Jones is a flat out stud! Better luck next time, and don't give up all hope. It was a close game that could have gone either way, and it will hopefully serve as a learning curve for the future.

You know... I think if you had a Jeff Garcia... or even someone like (and I know some will LAUGH) Trent DILFER there, the Boys could possibly have beaten the Giants their Superbowl year and made an appearance. Romo just seems so "FLAT" when the chips are down.

Gotta go to bed! LOL.

^^

Just wanted to be the one you knew would laugh. I actually agree... to an extent. Maybe not Dilfer, but a Garcia would bring a little more consistency, or at least would have a couple years ago.

This is what I personally don't like about Dallas. They have no clear leadership on the team, their owner is too self-involved to detach himself as 'assistant coach', and their offense is all or nothing. Last week Tony Romo was every bit of Peyton Manning, and this week he's nothing short of Rex Grossman; he's jumpy, inconsistent, and turns the ball over way too much.

If the Cowboys were smart they'd play a Carolina-style offense where they'd share the ball alot between running backs, and mostly go for the home-runs in the pass game. Barber and Jones can clearly play into those roles, and it would make them less dependent on Tony Romo to win. Clearly their defense needs some work too, but Ratliff was great, and their linebackers are tops in the league...Final verdict; fire Phillips, fix Romo, start Felix, and run the football all the time. That stadium is too expensive to serve losses with every 12$ cheeseburger.

I went 10-5, soon to be 11-5 if the Colts win, which is almost a lock. I might have been a little spoiled with my 15-1 start, so I was hoping to go a little better than 10/11-5. So I was ecstatic to see it bump me to #1 (no ties), although the top contenders are way too close to get comfortable now.
Great week of football, even though I got some gray hair watching. Definitely one of the tougher weeks to predict, so I was surprised some people did so well.

Good luck next week everyone!

we are going to have ties for a few more weeks until the good players get sorted out from the bad.

Since there will be so many ties, one wrong pick will ruin your week.
I am hoping that i will make it through this melee to get spit out at the top. But, usually this early in the season the positions dont mean much because of ties and the fact that you could go from the bottom to the top with a couple good picks. Heck, in the end if everyone makes a bad pick robbie could go up to the top because if ONE pick. Its a shaky time, but it will iron out after maybe 2 more sundays..
