You're absolutely right Fred. I feel like the Panthers should have played right into the Vikes Strengths, seeing they are (typically) so good against the run. But I still think that the Vikes are legit, and this loss really doesn't make me think any less of them. The Panthers are a great team, regardless of their record. Just as the Titans seemed to be a shell of last years team, the Panthers have seemed the same. But having a fresh QB such as Matt Moore, or Vince Young, can really change the focus of a team. Steve Smith is still a top WR, and he came up BIG tonight. And Julius Peppers... well, he's certainly one of the most talented, physical defensive lineman in the league, and he played HUGE tonight. So well that the Vikings had benched star offensive lineman Bryant Mckinnie due to the pressure Peppers was getting.
Just like the Vikes came back to dominate the Bengals after their loss against the Cards, I feel they'll come back even stronger next week. They'll be playing a pass defense that made Joe Cool look like Peyton next week, and follow it up by playing another weak secondary in the Giants. Just enough momentum to carry into the playoffs with a smooth transition, and they'll be one heck of a team to try and beat once they're in.
Sure I'm a little surprised by the loss, but definitely not worried.
As for the Ravens... YAY. They SMOKED the Bears today, and with a little help from the Colts, Titans, Raiders, and Falcons, they have gained a much needed leap into the wild card spot. I pretty much ruled them out after they lost to Green Bay on MNF, but if they can win out (which I believe they will), and then I think the wild card spot is theirs.
