2009 Yahoo - Pro Football Pickem - Contest - Prizes

Sorry about the Saints, Chad... BAD time to fall into some kind of funk... HORRIBLE time. They're still on my "root for" provided my teams don't make it. I think it would be great for the team, the city, and the state if they could go far.

I've had the same problem all season myself. Baltimore games are the worst to pick, because they seem to always inexplicably find a way to beat themselves in 'must-win' games. That's how they fell to Green Bay, and now it's how they fall to Pittsburgh..

Tough loss, because now they will be forced to submit themselves into the wild-card lottery (basically) along with the Steelers who now look fit to take that 6th spot from them...Not looking good Baltimore :(..But hey; at least I picked Pittsburgh :) :( !
Me too!!! But still, I would have accepted a loss on this one. As it is, it looks more and more like Pittsburgh will get into the playoffs (Denver's losing, Ravens loss, NYJ losing). THAT is a YUCK to me...

On a completely "Pick 'em" note... I THOUGHT I had made up one win on Darcey... but alas... no.... STUPID Miami.... Thanks for nothing FISH! LOL.

It does feel like it will be Pittsburgh, which is a VERY scary thing for every team in the NFL trying to win a ring. Say they get Polamalu back by the playoffs, they then become the best team in the NFL in my opinion. Their peaking at the right time, the defense is starting to gel, and Ben Roethlisberger is starting to throw like Peyton Manning. Definitely a team looking to roll on some of the higher-ups, and if they can get healthy AND make the playoffs, no team will want to play them; not even the Colts...Still give the edge to Indy though, because they have proven they can outscore teams on a very consistent basis, but blow for blow their defense can't contend with Pittsburgh...Gonna be good :)!.

LOL, don't feel bad got me too..Blame that one more on Houston though. One week their the Colts, and then the next week they become the Lions..WAY too shaky!.

Guess we were wrong... NYJ beat a 2nd/3rd string Indy team. SUCK! But they rested Peyton and crew.

Does NYJ winning KILL Pittsburgh's chances???? I hope so.

Geez... Colts GIVE UP rest their starters and let the Jets win... Good decision or bad one? AND they put a rookie out there to suck up the loss... Good decision or bad one?

The benefit... NYJ get a win and are between the Steelers and the playoffs... BUT, they've got to beat Cincy next week. Like that's gonna happen... unless Cincy decides to rest THEIR starters...

Wow... At least Dallas won and clinched a playoff spot. 2 wins in DECEMBER... Wow. LOL.

Depends on what happens next Sunday. If Cincinnati is playing for anything they won't, but if its locked in that they could be playing the Jets, I think they'll rest their starters.

Their offense is still struggling. Didn't convert any 3rd/4th and 1 situations, just like against SD on the goal line. But the defense is really hitting their stride. Their defense is playing well enough to win a SB, Romo is playing well enough to win a SB, rest of team needs to get it together.

Side note, does the "season" for picking end next week or go through the playoffs?

Last season it ended with the regular season. No playoffs. I'm gonna assume it will be the same this year.

Wow.... A "Shutout" weekend. Eagles - SHUTOUT, Cincy - SHUTOUT.

Cowboys WIN DIVISION... WHOO HOOO!!!!
Denver doesn't make the playoffs... BOOO HOOO!!!
Colts lose 2nd meaningless game... GRRRRRRRR
Steelers go home.... WHOOO HOOOO!!!!!

Pretty sure that the top ones won't move at all except that Darcey EXTENDED her lead on me by one again and a little tweaking here and there. LOL. BUT, I've been known to make errors, so I won't even THINK about trying to post how I think it pans out. LOL.

It sure has been FUN!!!! Wow!!!

LOL, Heather.

SAD thing... even though I HATE the Pats too... Wes Welker is OUT of the playoffs. Can't stand to see a good man go down. This news practically dooms the Pats chances (yay!!!).

I agree! He has been the only player to consistently perform at a high level for the Pats this year, and he will be desperately missed. However... They will be playing my Ravens next week, and I'm not going to say that I wish Welker was going to be in the lineup. I feel like he would have been a complete mismatch for that D, where Reed uses his "Ball Hawking" ability best when he plays it deep, and Lewis uses his shear strength and brute force to dominate the middle, and the line. Now neither will be forced to play against their strengths, and I have a really good feeling about this team in the Playoffs.

On a side note, I feel good to have gone out on a decent week. I've gotten over last weeks missed picks, and the task was almost insurmountable, even had I made my picks last week, so there's no real kicking of my own behind going on.

This was SO much fun, and I enjoyed the great discussions, chivalry, and laughs that we had. It really was one of my 09 highlights, and I hope to do it again next season.

Thank you Vinny for putting this on, and congratulations to the winner/s :)!

Good job everybody! This was one of the most competitive leagues I have been a part of. Darcy really kicked some butt!
