Breaking news for the reptile shipper!!

It is my understanding that Kinko's is not required to accept ANY perishable shipments FROM customers, or incoming perishable shipments to hold FOR customers, either. Many times they will accept them, but they are not required to. So I always try to avoid Kinko's and go for the "real" FedEx office whenever possible.

I really wish they would change that, since there are so many Kinko's around.

I sent them an email at their site, asking about my earlier email to them and also when the boxes will arrive. I also linked this thread for their FYI. Although I think that Shed'n is right and they're probably just swamped???

I've dropped boxes of snakes twice at Kinko's here... first time they didn't ask what was in it, and the second time they did, and when I said a snake she said "oh poor thing" but took it.
There's a big fed ex station in the next town but kinkos is a bit closer for me, I will have to see what happens over there next time.

Thanks, I will give them a call if I don't get the boxes tomorrow. I think most likely word has gotten out about the service and they have tons of people wanting in on it. Who doesn't want to save $? LOL

They are having a problem with getting boxes in right now. Some thing about switching some thing and it didn't go well. They apologized and said there will be a delay in getting boxes.

Today I sent out 2 boxes from home. It went well so I will see if they arrive on time like the last shipment did.

I did save about $15 each box this time though!

I appreciate the info too Bex! I will still give them a call in a couple of days. I do have some stuff to sell here but I want them to eat a couple more times before selling them anyway..

Delay on outbound shipping boxes
07-25-08 14:59
We are experiencing a slight delay on outbound boxes
We attempted to outsource our shipping of boxes and it did not work. We apologize for any delays but anything ordered after Monday of this week will not go out until Monday of next. Its a growing pain and a learning experience that we will not repeat.

Thanks,
David

This is what their web page said.

Ryan T., from Repster contacted me today and they're sending out my boxes. cool. Seem like good people and very courteous..thanks Ryan
I'll keep this updated!

I got a call today as well, they said they had a problem that has been taken care of and are sending my boxes out today and I will also post when I get mine :)

I have used this service about 1/2 a dozen time over the past month and have LOVED it! It's slick and perfect for someone like me. I've saved 15 - 20 bucks which translates to lower prices for my customers.

On a side note - I ordered boxed last week and got a voicemail today notifying me that there was a delay! Great service.

My boxes finally showed up yesterday... I will be putting up a couple of corns for sale next week as I have a show next Saturday. It took a while but I did promise to post when I got them :)

I ordered my boxes at the beginning of the week last week and they're not here yet. It'll be interesting to see if they're behind or if they're slowly managing to catch up. I'll let you guys know how it goes once I ship!

Same here. I ordered mine on the 4th.

I originally ordered mine on the 17th of July, was told that they actually went out on the 31st, but still haven't gotten them. I went and bought boxes instead. I tried to be very conservative about my box orders so that I wouldn't leave any unused (because they have to pay for them), but with the box service being so slow, I've had to buy boxes anyway, and now won't be able to use mine if they DO come.

I'm not going to sweat it, but if I did it again I'd order boxes wayyyyy ahead of when I knew exactly what I needed.

Regardless, the option to ship using your own boxes is still a saving grace for someone like me who didn't really have time to hassle with getting certified. So even though the box aspect of the deal still has a few kinks, I'm certainly not complaining!

After they have been doing this for 6 months or a year, I bet it will be A LOT more organized. Dave Young seems to be really dedicated and organized, so I am looking forward to seeing how it all works out.

Aren't you about to leave for Madagascar shortly? Hope it all goes smoothly for you! And I hope you have some Internet access so you can post some photos. My favorites are ALL lemurs and ALL chameleons. But other photos will be welcome too!

I agree Kathy 100%. It takes time to get most of the bugs out of any thing new. So far the service from Reptster, for me, has been great. :)

I agree. You have to expect that they're going to have hiccups with starting up something like this.

I'm leaving 3 weeks from today! I'll post pics when I can! My favorites are also ALL chameleons, so we'll be good on those!

Well I shipped my first box through them and it went well. And I did save money.
Looks like I got in on the very tail end of the free box deal though as they are now charging for them. I figure they probably lost money on those if they were purchasing from superior and then giving them away :shrugs:
