can anyone verify

Ever get the feeling that an argument is not about the colour of the snake at all? :sidestep:

(FWIW, I'd say it's either a caramel or an amber motley ... I'm not getting drawn into this!)

I'll put in my $.02 and say it's an amber motley. At that young age/size, motley or not, it is way too light to be a caramel. There's hypo in there, but which one may be the trouble...

Thats the problem, i got it from my local shop, who got it from a US importer, but the importer won't divulge the breeder so theres no way of knowing the bloodline

I guess you'll have fun finding out anyway :)

Is she for a particular project, or just because you liked the colour?

i liked her colour more than anything, i picked up my other 3 and wasn't planning on getting 4 lol. Im not sure what to do with her yet, but as shes a female ive got time to see what she does first lol

My money's on Caramel Motley.

For starters, they're very variable and some can be deceptively light. Look at the examples of Rich Z's Caramel Mots on this link:

http://www.serpenco.com/cultivars/carmot.html

If we saw one of those photos cold, would we have said Caramel Mot?

Then there's the price to consider. Looking at this year's Serpenco price list, Rich Z's Amber Motley hatchlings (shame there are no photos!) are listed at $400. Unless you paid around £400 sterling (the exchange rate roughly covers the cost of importing), then you're more likely to have a Caramel Motley unless you've bagged a major league bargain.

And if the person you bought from knows enough about reptiles to be importing Corns, then he's savvy enough to charge the market rate for an Amber Motley if that's what he bought.

I just thought i would post a picture of my 06 caramel motley next to a picture of the snake in question. I know that my snakes background is so much darker and more yellow.

My point exactly... What did you buy this corn as catpcave? What were you told you were buying?!

well the shop ordered in some amber motleys from the supply list, they sent through ambers and this one, which was also labelled up amber and i saw the pattern out of the corner of my eye, flipped it over and hello plain belly lol

Great pic Meeghann. Yes it is a amber motley I was the first to produce this morph and hatched many including the one joe14 has . Case closed amber motley. How could anyone mistake it for a caramel motley :shrugs: it is way to light . I have one for sale that looks like a carbon coppy to the one posted Joe14 you took the pic. the smaller one. They are like any other hypo morph some are lighter than others. Why did not anyone ask me since I breed them??????? :shrugs:

Caramel vs Amber

Most of my caramels hatch rather dark. They lighten with age but it looks like there might be some Ultra at work with that snake?

Well, if Vinman says Amber Mot then in my opinion that's what it is. I believe he was the guy that bred the first ever Amber mot & if anyone would know what to look for, he would.... :)
BTW, it is a real beauty...........

But the snake didn't come from Vinman did it... He may have worked with the morph more than anyone, but this snake is 3000 miles away :p

I think she should deffinatley be tested for hypo. Until then it's all hearsay!

i wish it was male to prove out quicker lol

as i said before, its just gonna stay unknown as an answer until jay can breed the poor girl.
i rather feel that vinman has the most say on this one, and i still also feel amber.
i will see the snake myself this weekend i hope, then i'll get back with what i think.. i know thats nothing compared to most of yu guys but you cant see it, so i have that advantage.
