Daytona 2009

Holy crap, I'm.....I don't know what to say. I'm so happy.....I think I'm going to cry.
 
My neighbor and i were considering going again this year but without the kids yay that would rock. Two years ago we braved the 14 hour drive with 5 children under 5 wtf were we thinking it was terrible!!! We would stay with her grandparents in daytona or friends of mine in st. augustine where I went to college. For those who have family not into snakes theres a rack of rack bars no pun intended, not to mention fun in the sun and a million other tourist attractions within 15 minutes of the show. Hope to meet some of you there!!
 
FYI for those looking to share rooms to cut cost...
Our rates are valid for up to 5 people per room and the rooms do have a pull out sleeper sofa!

That is correct! $79 for a standard king studio suite and $89 for a one bedroom king suite.

They do like to know how many people per room so that they can make sure they have enough food made for their hot breakfast buffet every morning.
 
Suite! Those are great prices, Katie! Hey, D found a flight out of Chicago for $200...should we book flights through you as well? How close to the show is the hotel? Will we need to rent cars?

If you found it online for $200 I would just book it that way. My company makes me charge a service fee for any flights we book and I hate to do that to friends/family.

The hotel is about 5miles from the convention center. I know a few of us staying there will have cars so there will be some carpooling - but depending on how many stay there and how many cars we have - a few extras renting a car wouldn't hurt.
 
I will have to get a car at least to get to Daytona. I haven't decided exactly when I'm going to turn it in. If I can get rides and help with parking/car rental money great. If I can keep the car and get people to ride with me and help with parking/car rental, that's great too!
 
Yes very true! I'll have the car at least until Friday and I can go load up! Most likely I'm going to try and ditch the car on Friday (after I buy supplies) as long as someone is willing to take me on carpool.
 
I am driving down, so I'll be able to help carpool and such (including getting margarita supplies, yum! :)).
 
Katie, what are the attractions around Daytona besides the show and the beach. How far to the Epcot Center? Are there taxies available?

Daytona is most known for the beaches. There is also the racetrack where the Daytona 500 is held. There is a nice lighthouse at Ponce Inlet and St Augustine is about an hour north of Daytona (alligator farm, historical downtown area, fort, lighthouse etc)

Epcot is in Orlando which is about an hour to hour and a half away depending on traffic.
 
Carol and Wade...what days are you arriving? We're looking at Thurs flights in and deparating on Monday. I'd love to go to the 'gator farm!

No wade, no taxi's available! I mean why would there be a taxi service in Daytona???? ;)
