First hook-ups for me!!

Rich, have you seen my big boy, Pepper? He's magnificent. The thing about avalanche stripes is they will have yellow. I don't think whiteouts/blizzards do. Some people like yellow, some don't. For people who don't like yellow- I will have opal bloods!! I love whitesnakes. Opal stripes next season!!

Nanci,

yeah, ive seen pepper! and i drool each time. I'm one that doesnt care much for yellow...I'll have to becareful...or i'll have a TON of projects going and no way to see them thru. personally..I'd like to own Several hundred corns...but thats just not feasible. But just 2 opal bloods (a pair) would be ok I guess :)

Rich I think you are worse than I was! I wasnt to bad until day 60. Then I got the ok any day now thing then all of a sudden they dented and that was the end of normal sleep.

Stormy,

yeah, I admit it...I've been bitten! :) And I like it. Thing is, on day 48-49 all the eggs dimpled....I had taken the lid off the egg chamber to "air them out" for about 10minutes no more than that. Up till that point the humdity was a steady 92-93 %. for the full 48-49 days. So i added some orchid moss(barely moistened) just to be sure. all the eggs eventually plumped back up but 1....but the 1 doesnt look "bad" it just has a dimple in it. the humidity shot back up to around 93% and has been there since...i'm incubating at 83* and im at day 51.....so...yeah...i'm going crazy...constantly checking the eggs...(thru the window of the incubator). when will they get here?? Ugh!! LOL . Cant wait to see a charcoal nose,an ultramel charcoal nose and hopefully a few blizzard noses poking out.

Thats about the same temps I incubated at. They were around 81-83. And mine started at day 61 and finished on day 64. I waited until day 65 I think it was to slit open the last egg to find the baby DIE.

well,
I suppose I'll convince myself to just look forward to the weekend and beyond.

day 52 And Counting.....

I don't know which is worse...when they pip on your weekend, & you get nothing done, or sitting at work, knowing they're pipping...I still have a couple week before the 2nd Tessera clutch starts pipping. They're getting bigger though.:)

i know! lol how can you make it though a work day knowing there will be pippies anytime! =]

LOL..it ain't easy...but whats more difficult...is being home...looking at the incubator..knowing what inside...do you dare peek & torture yourself if nothing has changed?? but..wait..we're close enough..maybe just a lil peek...Nothing..:headbang:

I think it's worse when they pip on a weekend. Then you're in there like every 30 seconds. At least if you have to go to work they have an 8-10 hour stretch where they can emerge in peace!

Wait till they start pipping and you have the urge to check on them at 3AM...

Yeah, Zena's eggs are flippin' huge now. It's amazing...if i didnt think it would bother them I'd take a pic of them next to a quarter...just like i did when they were first laid...to see the size difference if any??

I am going to take a picture of this 2nd clutch of Ginny's (if she ever freaking lays it) next to these ones to show the size difference.

Or, you could end up staying awake for more than 24hrs like I did, when my Tessera's were pipping. LOL

I don't think it will hurt them. I did it with Mica's eggs.

Oh she better not hold out another 2 weeks we are already a week past the prelay shed. I'll grab her and squeeze her out like a tube of tooth paste just to get that picture. :sidestep:
