First hook-ups for me!!

Just for kicks...i candled the closest & easiest egg....it's the easiest to see. Anyway...As the light was shining thru the egg...it was almost transparent...nice network of veins..then all the sudden...it was like a total eclipse...the lil one inside must have rolled over and totally blocked out the light....this is the one i have marked as being a blizzard...we'll see if i guessed correctly.

22 days and counting........

Checked eggs again, about half have plumped back up.....the ones that DID plump up..seems tight to the touch...as if they are too full. the others are still soft & supple.

I know you gotta be goin bonkers. I know I am. I just gave my guys their first meals. Its nerve racking until they are eating regularly lol! As to the egg that plumped back up to feeling over full, it will probably hatch last as mine that was like that did.

Welp. Ginny just shed so the good news is now I have something to keep my mind off of my eggs while I get to worry about round 2.

LOL, Bonkers doesnt describe it!!! I've pretty much set up camp in front of the incubator....I probably peek thru the window 7-8 times a day. just waiting to see some kind of sign. nothing yet. all the eggs but 1 have plumped back up....so, now i'm back to thinking 60-70 days. K.Rene's Cheddah Laid her eggs 17 days before Zena. Her eggs hatched on the 5th-6th of this month. So Zena's eggs (assuming temps are relative) Should hatch somewhere around the 22nd -23rd?? maybe sooner...but i'm not holding my breath.

:) Good luck on the 2nd clutch!! your a real trooper...i wouldnt want to go thru a double-clutch in my first year. Nex year-maybe...but zena was small to even get 1 clutch out. So i'm hoping we can get her to pack on some weight/size before next yrs breeding season. She's at about 250 now..and has been switched back to full sized adult meals...no problems there. her feeding response is as intense as it was before laying.

LOL,
I think these eggs are screwing with me...Humidity on the digital guage is "High" (anything above 90%) The Analog Humidity gauge reads about 93%. Now there are 2 eggs that are dimpled,After having plumped up the day before. Following advice about checking UNDER the eggs, I found the the Hatch-rite felt pretty much the same. Added 1 ounce (per instruction on the package) of water to hatch-rite in the far corner..away from the eggs. this was the other night when they all had dimpled. They all plumped up but one..now another has dimpled again...and the humidity has NOT dropped below 90% at anytime. We are at the 11th hr. I cant stand this. i think my heart is gonna explode. LOL

Rich, it would be a lot easier to tell what was going on with your eggs if you were counting up rather than down. They aren't going to hatch on some random day anyway, the average number of days that all cornsnake clutches have ever incubated, or whatever it is. How many days old are they? Could they be dimpling because they are a week or so away from hatching??

And all you need to know about humidity is- are there fine water droplets on the sides of the egg container, where the hatchRite is? If so- the humidity is fine.

Good..point...

from this point forward...i'll give the age of the eggs.

49 days

Oh no I am not. She does it on her own. Last night I was feeling her again after she shed and I can feel 11 or more lumps but only 5 of them feel harder so I am hoping that the rest are slugs. I haven't weight her in the last couple weeks but I was able to get her weight back up to 315 grams. I thought about offering the eggs to one of these people who want to breed their snakes just to experience the miracle of a baby pipping.

Nanci,

Thanks Again for your input, You help Me stay focused and not go totally nuts...Ok...I checked..and yes there is a fine layer of water droplets just above the layer of hatch-rite. so i guess everything is going as expected. And Yeah, i knew that the eggs wouldnt hatch on a specific date...Was just counting down to 70 days. I fully expect them to hatch at least 10 days sooner than that. we are at 49 days, seems like i've seen alot of hatches in the high 50's..between 55-59 days.

We're getting to the point where it's hard not to go crazy! I had a major cleaning/snake rearranging frenzy today- getting a hatchling rack ready, ordering another hatchling rack, ordering bins, moving adults and juvies around...Everything all depends on my new adult racks getting here before babies start hatching, and both things are predicted for just about the same day!

WOW!!!,
Cutting it close...Makes it exciting!! :) everything here (with only the 1 clutch) is ready to go...Just waiting for pippies(which i think is making it worse)...Cleaned the adults 1 day sooner than normal just to take my mind off the eggs. I ordered 2 of the hatchling racks from jeff Mohr. Didn't really need them for this clutch...as i have 2 shelves with heat prepared for the hatchlings. 4 qt shoe boxes..with lids. Lots of paper towels,t.p. rolls etc. Pinkies by the ton in the freezer.
