Is this an Albino??

I use the Zoomed uth's for all of my snake cages. They work just fine. I actually use the next smaller size than they recommend, but you can use your own judgement depending on the bottom of you terrarium. 1/3 coverage is all you need, certainly no more than 1/2. I stick mine on, but some people duct tape them so they can remove them better if they change viv's. I put a piece of paper over the glass, but under the bedding, (where the uth is), so when they burrow they wont burn their belly.

Do the pet stores carry the Zoomed uth's? I'll check on line at our local one.. So, I can take a sheet of newspaper and lay it on the inside of the viv over where the heater is and then put the aspen over that and he should be fine and ouchless?

Der... That was Zoo Med you were talking about. I feel stupid. I was thinking I hadn't seen anything about zoomed heaters when I was searching. LOL! That is the one I put in my other post. It doesn't say if it sticks though. I'll have too just look at them. If I use duct tape, that won't interfere with the heater at all right?

Hi!
The Zoomed's have a stick on back. Some people just like to use duct tape instead, so they can move it when they want to, which works fine too. i JUST STICK THEM ON. They are at both Petsmart and Petco, but if you order on Petsmart's website, you can get them a lot cheaper usually. Like here they run from $15.99 to $17.99 for the mini size (I use those for 10 gallon hatchling tanks), but online they are $10.99 with free shipping!

Oops, didn't mean to scream "just stick them on", I hit the caps lock by accident then. :bang:

 Do you know how many times a day I accidentally hit the caps lock button with my nails and know people will think I am yelling? LOL! I didn't even know what that meant until my cousin wrote me back one day and said, "You didn't have to yell it." She was messing around but it was funny. Ya know, no big whoop. ;) I called Petsmart and the guy there told me that ZooMed's don't have a stick on back. (This was before your post) Of course, he didn't actually go over there and look so, I will go check it out. We have a Petco down the road too. It's a small one but I will check there too.

Hehehehehe... I called back and he just didn't know what he was talking about, of course it has the sticky. That is why I come on here! Thanks! Now, my viv is large, it's around 4 feet long or so. Should I go with the large ZooMed uth?

Okie dokie... No big deal. I haven't seen any signs and no one has called so, I guess it could be a case of the owner just setting these guys free. I wonder what we'll find next...

I'd be searching the neighourhood for months if I'd found Billy! Lovely pics, he's looking good. One lucky snake to have been found by you.

I don't think I saw it anywhere, but you may want to have Billy sexed to make sure he is really a "he" and not a "she"! Since this is breeding season, and you have no idea about Billy's history, you may just hit the jackpot and find yourself with some eggs! As a precaution, I would suggest you research the incubation of eggs.

Hehehehehehe... Wouldn't that be a riot? I find this snake and it's pregnant? Oh geez! I heard that having them sexed is painful to them, I don't want to hurt him
Everyone I have talked to says that if the tail just tapers down it's a male and if the tail shoots down to a point, it's a female. Not true?

Generally, the tail of a male will taper gradually from the vent while that of a female will be noticably thinner right after the vent. However...this is only a generalization and not always true. There are plenty of exceptions.

If it's done properly, it should not hurt them in any way or even be particularly uncomfortable. They just don't like something being put where it don't belong (think about a trip to the doc....). It only takes a minute to sex a snake, maybe less time.

Some of my males seemed to enjoy being probed... their tails shivered as the probe went down, and they didn't flinch or anything. LOL it reminded me of the "milking the prostate" scene in Road Trip...

:eek1: STOP!!! :crazy02: NO, DON'T STOP!!!!

(Did you say two fingers or three? :shrugs: Better make it three.)
