Male Popping Pic

Now...how often they have a litter depends on when you pull her pinkies out and put the male back in....but when your corns are all little...you will be pulling the pinkies out after only about 2 days, maybe 3 days...so you could get a litter every month. My mouse was pregnant for about 23 days.
Let me know when you are thinking about doing it and I'll PM you a nice typed up kinda thing on it...

Some stores don't want to send home a male female pair to people because say "junior" comes in for some pet mice...get a 1.1 pair....couple weeks later "Mom and Dad" are b****ing at petshop manager because they have 12 baby mice that they don't want...

Petsmart won't sell live feeders, so they only carry pet mice...which cost a little more, and most stores will only get females or males and won't have both. If you have a smaller shop somewhere that sells live, go in, pick out a pair...one has balls, the other doesn't :D

If you have a PetCo...that's where I got mine, they were fine with it.

I've thought about the live feeders turned feeder BREEDERS myself in the past.... But how big would I need to buy them, but still young enough that they'll last me a good while?? I mean, if I bought adult mice, they probably won't last me as long as something younger, but obvioulsy a fuzzy is way too young.... Hmm, I might have to do a little research on this!

And Andrew has seemingly disappeared on us....lol

I plan on doing it pretty soon, so get to typing, son!

Ok cool I have a PetCo..you thin they'd be ok if I asked for a male and two females?

Haha no I am still here!!

Also..when they get older (the snakes)...will it be harder to produce the feeders? Since they have to have time to grow and mature into adult mice? That is the only part I am having trouble understanding...

Oh yeah..and you said about putting the male back in after removing the pinkies blah blah blah...

So after a litter is had, the male needs to be removed? What about the other females?

Also, I have heard to feed them something like lab blocks or something like that? Do they have those at petco?

According to rodent pro a mouse has reached sexual maturity between 20-29 grams...
I would just go in a live-feeder seller...ask to weight the two that you get...aim for say 23-24 grams?
Technically between 30-50 grams is "retired breeder" but my male and female are 43 and 42 grams and had a litter just fine...
I am replacing them with some around 25 grams though...

Cool thanks! :)

PetCo has labblocks...I am 99% sure.
The other females ONLY need removed if you see aggression between the new mom and the other females...

According to RodentPro.com an "adult mouse" 20-30 grams...which is a decent size meal for an adult cornsnake I believe reaches that size in 30 days.

When your snakes get old enough to need larger mice, I would put that 20gal tank in good use as a "growing tank".
Once the pinkies are 20 days old, they are weaned and can be put in the "growing tank"..but I'd worry about that when it comes :)

Haha ok cool. WTH am I supposed to do with the male when the female(s) have pinkies?

Feed him off.... Hahaha! No I'm kidding :D Ummm, you should probably have an extra cage set up for him prior to put him in when the pinkies are born. Just guessing, as it sounds like the most proper thing to do...

And ya...Petco will sell them to you...the guy that got mine out was cool and understood I would be feeding off the babies...but some of them won't give them to you if you say you are breeding...just go in, ask for a 1.2 pair and see what happens...if they ask, let them know you will use all of the babies as feeders and not come back complaining...:)

With a 1.2 pair you will have about 20 or so pinkies a month. that's enough even for 4 snakes... :) As you get more and more though, just adjust the number of females as you see fit.

Haha ok cool. WTH am I supposed to do with the male when the female(s) have pinkies?

Well...I weighed my female every day after I noticed she was def. preggo...went from 42-something like 68 grams I think is what her final weight was...

You can remove the male as soon as you notice she is pregnant. Or you can wait till you see the babies. I imagine you have the ability to check in on them a couple times a day...you'd be fine...

When you go to get the stuff, you may just grab an extra food dish and water bottle for that 20 gal...you could stick him in there for a few days no problem. Or if that would be in your way...get a small sterilite...like 6 qts is plenty, food, bedding...and pull the water bottle from the other tank once a day to let him sip on it, then replace it....mice can go forever without water, so a once a day offering would be fine for 3 days or so until you can place him back.

Interesting....
Ahh I can't wait for spring break so I can get my babies!
I've already got my flexwatt and connectors all ordered, I ordered a temp gun, I THOUGHT I knew how I was gonna go about setting up a rack...
But now I am doubting myself. Haha.

Haha cool. I would love any input.

Oh and back to you saying you wanted to get a baby baby boa...what kind you wanting to get?
I'm a big fan of the sunglow and the salmon

Are there any major differences between BCC's and BCI's? Like size or temperament or anything?
Where you plan on getting him? Local store or breeder or...?
