I hate to rub it in again...but at the local show...we have one about every 2 or 3 months...
BCI's are not "true redtails"....they may have darker tails...also called "common boas"
BCC's ARE true redtails, and have a nice red brick color that gets richer with age

BCI's from what I understand get a little bit bigger. The Colubian Boa is a common BCI.
Suriname's or Suri's are common BCC's that alot of ppl get.

I'm not sure which is "known" to be a little more aggressive...but as you know...depends on the individual snake...

A Columbian, which is a BCI or a Common Boa can be had for $60-$75 at a show...
BCC's are a bit more :D

When it is time for me to get one, I am going to force you to pick me out a stunning one at a show so you can ship it to me! Haha.
The only place around here that I know sells them (BCC's) is petco in amarillo and I personally don't really want to buy anymore snakes or pets in general from big chain retailers for obvious reasons

A shop? No. None that I fully trust. I don't think herps are that big around here so I don't ever get to hear if a shop is reputable or not...
So I have decided that I want to stay away from them and only deal with reputable dealers..even if that means having to order online.
 
If he does, it may just be a "small-time" shop that only carries "small" snakes if any at all :( I feel bad for the poor guy!

And dude I could totally do that! I would have to figure out the shipping deal...but ya, if in the future you'd want to set something up...who knows, in a few years, you may be buying some Striped Amels from me ;)
 
That's sounds about normal...are they babies?
For that price I could pick you one up...hell I could send you pics via cell phone before I purchased...so you could pick it out, and have it shipped for the same price.
I would trust the breeders at the show more than any shop :)

I'm SO glad that a rep shop opened up super close to where I live. It's also great that I know the dude that owns the shop is reputable :) I'm also glad that I get shows coming around every 3 months!

My plan is to get breed my new 4 to eventually (after many tries Im sure) produce striped butters, striped amels, and my dream...striped bloods (**drools**)

Oh trust me that is my DREAM! I want so bad to start my own business in the herp industry. Oh man I get so excited even THINKING about it...
 
And I REALLY wish that there were shows close to here...
I'm thinking that I may try to make my way down to the one in Arlington in June...
Who knows though...
God knows I don't need to be driving back home with more snakes...
(Unless it should be a beautiful sunglow boa :D)

I love the Striped Butters! If I didn't love the Striped Amels more I would be planning on those :) May have to buy one of those from ya:)

By the way, I would LOVE to buy a striped butter from you when you've made 'em! They're one of my favourite morphs, but HELLA expensive.... Only saw it from one source, but they were running at a whopping 300 bucks! :sidestep:
 
And thanks guys..... You just might have me thinking about a boa... But which boa runs on the small side??? I wouldn't want anything too big :D
