President May be in Trouble

That isn't true. Not that long ago, the Clinton years, there was a surplus of money. Of course Bush blew that, but it was there before Obama inherited a mess. (i know i know, he didn't fix it (shut up))

Now that we are in deep debt, which we were not in before, we need to cut money to programs that MAKE ZERO MONEY. SS and VA make zero money.

This is very easy to understand. And it sucks. But you need to know so you can prepare. Please, PLEASE prepare. Please.

Hmm? I sure hope you are not telling me to shut up anyways Iam very well prepared.

Nate she is all yours brother. I've beat my head against that wall long enough.

Make me proud.

Also, Nate you know I voted for Mittens because I like those silver fox types. The grey to dark fading hair like Mr. Fantastic gets me every time.

The 'shut up' in parenthesis was for anyone who would give me crud for using the 'Bush's mess' defense while voting for Obama after he clearly didn't do well in his first term. I was not telling you to shut up.

I hope you are prepared as you say you are. Your situation doesn't sound good, and it will only get worse once SS and VA do go. And they are going. That is happening.

Autumn, I dying my hair right now.

I can't move! I own my home and I don't owe anything on it. Plus we're tax free!.... (for now (bum bum bum!!!))

Beth, I'm intrigued. Maybe, if you bug me for the next for yours, I'll help you get that 5%. That's assuming we don't hit the iceberg again, explode, and then have all our bodies impaled upon our own individual icebergs. That would be a mess for sure.

Also, Beth, the kids are doing fine.

Autumn, I fear Mittens would make us walk the plank before selling our ship to the Chinese. But if it had been Ron Paul, I swear... Maybe next time.

Nate, I won't bug you. But I will tell you this......
I don't smoke da bud. I don't think I would ever smoke da bud.
But, I believe that people who want to smoke da bud should be allowed to do it, as long as their smoking da bud does not hurt me or mine.
So, even if it is not in my own interest whether smoking da bud is legal or not, if I see it on the ballot I vote for it.
It opens up new rights for bud lovers, and doesn't hurt me a bit.

(And you can pretty much apply that logic to most things).

And thanks for the update on the kids!

I see I will say sorry for thinking you was telling me to shut up my bad and yes Iam very well prepared.

I like him even more now. :D Glad he is the president. :grabbit:

The fedgov makes no money. That which they give to someone must first be forcibly taken from someone else.

My work is also currently on Mars. Yep, I made the cutting tools that make all the little washers they used on the rover.
.

Just wanted to say how cool I think this is. My current job involves research for NASA, so I've become a bit more interested in space stuff lately.

Sorry, I don't have much else to say that hasn't already been covered in the 60 plus pages. Actually, its kind of a depressing thread to read through. I do become furious at the thought of supporting lazy lowlifes who won't get a job and keep having children they can't afford. I'm sure many people on this forum feel the same way.
I really, really, also try to put a positive spin on things. I'd like to think that maybe a portion of my hard earned taxes are going to someone who is in need. Someone who is receiving help and really does appreciate the assistance they are getting.
And then I educate myself before each election and vote for programs and candidates who won't keep giving more and more of my money away :)

"...The fed can inflate the currency so that money is worthless..."

I believe that is the main route that most politicians will go for. They will want to do whatever will stir up the electorate the least, and even more importantly, whatever will seem (in voters' minds) to heap less blame on the politicians themselves. If they (lawmakers) actually vote for painful cuts, the average voter will find it easier to blame their legislator - compared to printing more money that just seems to magically make everything cost a lot more. Then everything goes up A LOT - except paychecks! Each politician can then say it is not his / her fault. It also means they can pay back a lot of debt with dollars that are worth a lot less than the dollars they borrowed - a win for politicians / candidates - but not necessarily for the rest of us. They will have to do SOMETHING once the ability to borrow becomes compromised, and printing more money seems less painful than explaining why they have to cut the programs voters really want or need.

So the government checks might keep coming, but it might take a lot more dollars to buy what your dollar is buying right now. I have paid into SS my whole life, and am 60 now. It is almost time to start collecting some of that back - but I am not sure how much I will ever see - or if the dollars promised will be worth much when / if I get them. However - I think I might see more of it than those who are much younger than I am. Time will tell!

Ah, I also wanted to comment on this. I don't have a problem with people having a nice time while high. I do have a problem with the smoke "da bud" causes leading to things like lung cancer from second hand smoke. I know cigarettes cause the same issues, but less and less people are smoking due to all the restrictions. I'm not sure about the new laws, but I have a feeling there may be a few more people smoking in public places now that this is legal. And I hate the idea that the smoke may harm the health of people who want nothing to do with it.

Speaking of bad awful evil guns. The shotgun I use in three gun shoots. Careful looking it's very evil, it's black after all. ;)

Nobody hates to inhale smoke more than I do! But most states these days seem to have banned smoking from most public places. So I can't imagine they would allow "da bud" where smoking is already prohibited. I am all for letting adults smoke whatever they want to - as long as it doesn't impact me or other non consenting people.

Okay Starsevol you want to know whear I work at? I work at the Medina County Achievement center. That place is for the board of developmental disabilities I work thier because I have that problem. You how much I make? like 50 dollars every two weeks we don't get paid every week like alot of work places do.

Okay Starsevol you want to know what I would do? I would pay the bill and if a loaf of bread cost 30.00$ then that is what I will pay. It is not a big deal to me 30.00$? it could be much worse the cost could be alot higher more like 100.00$.

So, imagine working your same hours making $50 every two weeks and that $50 will only buy you one and two thirds loaves of bread some day.

No big deal? I hope you find your own words filling and nutritious if and when that day comes.

THAT is inflation. THAT comes from governments just printing up money to pay their debts. THAT is a big deal. THAT can destroy our country.

Notice that in the below chart, the last two figures are merely one year apart, instead of five years for the rest of the data points. Guess what THAT means?

That market forces are at work?

Bread costs rise due to drought

Inflation is more than just the government 'printing money', and I'm honestly surprised that you'd try to sell it as something so simple.

Besides, according to your graph, bread went from 8c to 12c in '45 to '50, an increase of 50% whereas it went from $1.00 to $1.15 or so in 2005-2010, an increase of 15%. And in '75 to '80, the price of bread doubled?

I'd like to see some sources on that graph.
