The Kitty Appreciation Thread

Carol, they are so cute! I love watching my cats play - it usually gets too rough really fast, and they end up growling and hissing at each other, though.
I know exactly what you mean about cats helping you heal. After my cat Drew died, I was grieving for months. I swore off getting another cat ever again. I got a hamster a month or two later, and he ended up dying of wet tail and I swore off hamsters after that. When I found Tito as a stray, he healed my heart and helped me remember the good times instead of the bad. I don't think I could ever live without cats.

Carol! Chewie is just so cute!!! (and I love the name....I'm a dork) What kind of kitty is he? (I noticed the shorter tail? Or am I seeing things?)

This is what my cats do too. When I'm in the bathroom with the door shut...there is a bit of a space under the door...and they will start meowing and sticking their paws under the little space.

Then if one is inside...and one is outside...they will start attacking eachothers paws through the door.

My cats also seem to have some sort of bed sleeping schedule when I go to bed too. When I go to bed first my cat Aisha visits me in the bed. And she only goes by my head in the bed...she is not really fond of the softness of the bed...she likes to be by my head or on a nearby pillow.

Then eventually Aisha leaves and they do whatever in the middle of the night...then when i wake up my cat Leia is sleeping down by my feet.

They are rarely on the bed together unless my boyfriend is gone...in which case Aisha sleeps on my boyfriends spot on a pillow...and Leia sleeps by my feet.

Oswald is like that, too. The bathroom door is always closed, but she will run down the hall and dart into the bathroom if I don't catch her before the door is shut. She just sniffs around and begs me to pet her.
Tito is the only one who sleeps with me at night. I'll tell him it's bed time, and he jumps up on my shoulder (and it's always my left shoulder) and perches up there. He lays next to me in his own little "bed" which is a pillow and a folded blanket on top of it. He sleeps there all night and occasionally sleeps on his back. I'll try to get a picture of it eventually.

I love sleeping kitties. Mmmm, warm belly. One of my favorite things in the world!! Chance sleeps at my feet most nights, unless the dog is there. But when I'm not feeling well, she curls up right next to me, as close as she can get, like she knows that it will make me feel better.

My kitty tears up the carpet if the bathroom door is closed and she's not in there with me, so if its just me there (which it is 98% of the time) I just leave it open a bit so she can come in. If I have to shut the door, on the rare occasion that I have company, I have to make sure she's in there so she doesn't destroy stuff! Silly kitty.

I definitely gotta be a part of this thread! :0)

First off here is Mitsi (my cat) I have had her for 11 years now and she is the love of my life..She has been with me through so much and has even moved to FL and back with me..and now we're getting ready to go to FL once more..

Next up is Ralph (Joe's cat) Regretfully Ralph was put to sleep just last week..He was 14 years old and was suffering from crystals in his stomach and severe kidney infection..Joe knew Ralph wouldn't be able to last through another surgery so he had him put to rest..We're picking up his ashes this weekend..I still miss him very much and loved him dearly!

And the last one is Whisper (our cat) Joe found him about a little over 2 years ago in someone's muffler while coming home one night. He brought him inside and I cleaned him up. We agreed to keep him until we found a good home for him...well we found a great home...US! lol...He had a great relationship with Ralph and followed him everywhere and did everything Ralph did..He gets along great with Zinc (our dog) but regretfully Mitsi isn't to fond of him though she does tolerate his games at times...He is extremely scared of everyone and everything and literally will not go up to anyone except for me and Joe..

2 more pics still to come of Whisper..

Ya, we got Abby a short time after I lost my 16 year old kitty that I had since I was a teenager. I was sooo sad that she didn't enjoy sleeping on the bed. A couple months later, we lost our Great Dane and we got Chewy so Abby could have a buddy. Chewy was happy to sleep on the bed and Abby got so jealous now they are both in bed with us!

Thanks on the name, she even talks all the time in this silly garbled meow that sounds like a girly Chewbacca.

Going with the oppisites theme, Abby is a good 'ol shelter kitty and Chewy is a soon to be registered Pixie Bob and yes she was born with that short tail. We are currently deciding on if we want to breed her or not. Everyone that comes to the house goes gaa gaa over her. I think they are both pretty but I prefer Abby's sleek look. Probably because it reminds me of my 16 year old buddy.

RIP Phineas and Cleo, I love you!

Carol, that picture made me all misty eyed. So sorry for your losses. They were gorgeous.

Elle, I love love love that last picture! You are so good with a camera!

I do not own this cat, but I have to include him in this thread. It's Louie the X bengal that belongs to my best friend Lynn. He is absolutly bat mental! He does back flips off walls, sits on top of door frames waiting to pounce, hangs from her letterbox so he can maul the postman, hangs out in fishbowls and washing machines etc etc

Do you use his eyeballs as inspiration when you do your eyes? Because as soon as I saw that first picture I thought of you and your fun makeup....

I currently have 4 cats, after years of refusing to get another after my old ones were put to sleep I agreed to foster my brother's cat Bob. Bob decided straight away he belonged to my middle boy, so I have very little contact with him. He has found himself at least one other home, because he disappears for a few days then comes back when he feels like it.

My cat Winky was feeling kinda left out while I was viewing this thread. So he did his best pose for his spot in this thread.

This is Yoda. I got this cat when I was 13 years old and still have him to this day... making him about 14. He's the only mammal I've ever had (save for a couple childhood mice). We've grown up together. He's truly more of an annoying brother than a pet at this point. He's calmed down in his later years and become ridiculously loving, but in his youth, he was to be feared. Always kind to my mother and I... but to intruders, not so much. I fondly remember hearing a high school friend screaming then walking into the kitchen to find her on the counter, and the cat on the ground growling and spitting. Hahaha. He has thumbs, he's an evil genius, and he's my partner in crime.

I actually have to take him into the vet in the morning. He developed a cough a few weeks back. X-rays two weeks ago showed something in his chest, but all blood work came back normal. 2 weeks of antibiotics, but he's still coughing and his purr (which has always been RIDICULOUSLY loud, sounds broken). :( *sigh*
