The Kitty Appreciation Thread

I love everyone's cats, they're adorable

I currently have 6 kitties, 2 are permanent indoor kitties, they hate outside and the other 4 were originally wild when I found them in my backyard at about a month old so they like to be outside and have a huge outdoor cage to play in then come inside.

The 2 indoor kitties are:

Sage-I found her and her litter mates in my neighbor's yard in freezing weather, they didn't even have their eyes open. I took them in and took over as their mother. I had to feed them every hour to 2 hrs and had to make them go to the bathroom.

Sabby(Sabbath)-a year younger then Sage but same story. She was only a few days old when I found her in November in freezing rain with her 2 brothers.

Here are their pictures. Sage is first, then Sabby.

Here are the rest of the gang.

First is Pumpkin, then Angel, and last but not least Teanie Beanie Boo. I can't find a picture of Oreo so she will have to be left out.

Snow Kitty

I just took the coolest pic of my newest barn kitty "Nekko wafer". Brownie points to those of you who can find the camoflaged kitty.

Devon:dancer:

Whoops! Try 2.

Okay so I had to resize that. Let's try to introduce Nekko again.

Here are my two cats. The first is Cyrus, My daughters found him scrounging in the dumpster at our apartment and brought him in. It was November and he was about 3-4 months old at the time, and I couldn't say no.
The second is our Pita. Again my daughters brought her home. This time they saw someone drop a box out of their car window(again in november). They stopped just knowing there had to be an animal in said box, and low and behold there's this tiny kitten not more then 4 or 5 weeks old(vet said 5 weeks 4 days later) with an URI an a collar that surely would have killed her if she had lived beyond 2 weeks.
Pita definitely rules the roost. Poor Cyrus outweighs her by about six pounds, but she puts the poor boy in his place. He won't even try to eat if she's at the food bowls. He stays in a different room till she leaves. Yes she lives up to her name. P.I.T.A.!....lol

I have to ask this. Does anyone else have a cat that loves to suck certain fabrics?(I've read they are called wool-suckers). Well PITA is definately one of those. from the day we got her she has decided my robe is a nice to to suckle. It doesn't matter if I'm wearing it or not. If it's around she'll go suckle on it.
It's kind of cute but agravating at the same time. If i'im busy doing something she'll be there trying to suckle. There is no way that I've found to break her of it. Any ideas how?

Ah yes. You've got a suckling cat! Its so cute at first before it gets aggravating! All the vets I've worked with say that a cat who does this is usually one who was separated too early from its momma and its still craving that maternal comfort. She SHOULD grow out of it. How old is PITA???

I hope this helps!

I've got a similar but more embarressing problem with my 2 male kitties. They like to take my hubby's clothes, ( usually his ties and socks ) and wander around the house crooning with them after which they usually....ahem....make love to them! Unfortunately, I don't think they will grow out of it. UGH! I'm never getting male cats again! They're all pervs!

Devon

PITA is just over a year old now. And I don't see her ever outgrowing her suckling..lol
btw, PITA also drags our socks around the house and tosses them in the air and plays with them, but she doesn't try molesting them...LOL

This is Mr Bumbles, one of the ninja kittens' older brothers who lives at the stables. He's ultra friendly, and climbs up your legs into your arms or on to your shoulders for fuss.

Janine, Mr Bumbles is gorgeous! I love his eyes. :)
Snakemom, Pal-O-Mine is correct. I've heard about this a number of times, and it's almost always attributed to being taken away from mom too soon. I've heard of some cats growing out of it while others don't ever grow out of it.
That reminded me of something that Drew used to do that I hated (but now I kind of miss it). Every time he would go in the litter box, he'd bury his business and spend about 5 minutes scratching at everything around the box. He'd scratch on the walls, the floor, the lid of the litter box (I use a tote with a hole cut in the top. I've got dogs. LOL), and anything else he could get his paws on. I would constantly try and stop him from doing it, but he did it until the day he died. Does anyone else have quirky cats like that? :)
I also have Tito who is a giant hairy ball of quirk. There's so many weird things that he does. He lays on his back (i'll post a picture) all the time. He jumps up on my shoulder and perches there. If i'm talking to my mom while he's perched up (she's deaf, so I have to sign to her), he'll get annoyed and start attacking my hands. He stares Joakim down in his viv, but if I point the water bottle at him, he spazzes out and runs around the room. (I don't actually spray him the majority of the time.) He always scratches around his water bowl to locate the depth of the water - which is almost always at the same depth every time. LOL - In fact, because of that i've had to use huge bowls of water to get him to stop dumping water all over my floor.
Wow, that was really long. Sorry! LOL - I'll make it up. Here's a picture of Tito laying on his back on my arm chair. He's a goof, but I love him. :D

He's lovely, Suzy! The ninja kittens both suck a sofa cushion, although I know they were completely weaned before I got them, so maybe some cats just like to do it.

Here's a few of my kitty, Meow Meow. That's her name because she likes the sound of her own voice and meows more than any cat I've ever had.

Don't some cats love to hear their own voice?! Our Simba is very noisy but Rippers just coos like a bird - "BRRR!"

I thought you guys would like this picture - we finally got a shot of Simba with her crazy eyes!
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/tracee84/kitties/DSC08574.jpg

Since being a kitten we've never been able to get a really good photo of her 'real' face (you guys and gals will know what I mean!). She normally looks evil, like in this one:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/tracee84/kitties/DSC08577.jpg

Rrrrun!!!

I've gotten to the point with our cats that I can tell what their meow means. When my black kitty, Aldonza, gets ready to cough up a hairball, she makes a meow that sounds like, "On no! Oh no no no!" ( Nice that she warns me! Now how do I make her NOT do this at 2 A.M.?! ) The boy cats yodel when they're....ahem...in the throws of passion with a sock. Aldonza gets very chatty right after a nap, ( I think she's trying to tell me her dreams! ) and 'meeps' at me. Took 'trills' at me when I walk in the bedroom and find him sacked out in a patch of sunlight. And they all 'bleat' in a voice barely above a whisper when they see a bird on the other side of the window!

The funniest thing is my tortie barn cat Checkers. When I see her and call, she will come high-tailing it across the yard to me! She's the only cat that ALWAYS comes when I call. She's also an amazing hunter and has bagged squirrels from time to time which are half her size! ( I find them headless in the barn the next day! Maybe I should have named her "the Red Queen" except she's not red! )

Do you know how tempted I have been to steal her catch and feed it to my snake??? She brings back an awful lot of field mice and chipmunks.

Don't worry! I won't actually do it!

Here are the current hairballs taking up residence at the Willis household:

Eclipse is hubby's find, a stray at the I-75 rest area he is a security guard at. It took her quite awhile to warm up to the other hoomins in the house (hubby is still the love of her life), and so far, she still hates the demon twins - Tawny and Cherry (the children named them), kittens that were dumped off, along with their mother and brother, at the animal hospital I work at when they were about 4 weeks old. They're 4 months old now and get into everything! Luckily, the children's rooms are a better playground due to all the cool stuff laying around. Yet, they still find other objects around the house that fascinate them.
