The Kitty Appreciation Thread

Next I emerged after a run of 5 nightshifts to find a strange cat in the house! My boys had adopted a stray cat without my knowing and named it Ralph. A quick check revealed 'he' was a girl, filthy and underweight. A neighbour had abandoned her when they moved away.
Ralph decided she's my cat. She has 'issues', doesn't like to be fussed unless she's in the mood, but insists on attention when she wants it. When she's in a good mood I get lots of kisses from her.

And here are my ninja kittens. Bonnie (shorthair) and Maisie (longhair). Born at the stables and completely stolen by my boys. I can get quick cuddles off them, but both girls ignore me if my boys are around.

A lot of people have heard my kitties' story, so I'll keep it brief. In July we answered an advert for kittens and eventually found the dingy farm (seriously looked like something out of a horror movie) and it was quite clear they were all very poorly. There were 5 kittens of varying size and a pregnant mum. We took two of them, and sure enough they were diagnosed with cat flu. We nursed them back to health and now we can't remember what life was like without them :)

Here is Simba at 6 weeks old and very ill:

Here is Simba all better:

She looks cute, but she is the DEVIL I TELL YOU!!

And her big sis (although they are from different litters really), Ripley:

I never knew how much I missed cats. My old cat Bonnie died this year of natural causes. She was with me from the age of 3. Here she is as the cutest wee kitty!

Here is my mum's cat who they call 'Arry, playing pool:

My street is full of cats and we often get visitors. Here's one:

OOH and check this link out that a friend sent me just today:

I could sit on that site all day

I'll go now..... :)

JP- I'm jealous of your pets!! You actually own everything on my "want" list, an Abbotts, a greyhound (you managed to stop at one?), AND a gorgeous ragdoll!

Just wanted to say I didn't stop at one greyhound... I have 2, Chico and Kylie. I have a thread w/ their pics called "the non-snake members of the family" or something like that.

And Suzy, thanks for starting this great thread! It has been so entertaining to read the stories and see some awesome pictures of people's cats. :)

I'm such a sucker for everyone's cute kitties! :)

These are my two troublemakers, Asmodeus (blue/white) and Discordia (torbie/white). When I moved in with my husband, I was heartbroken to find out he loved cats, but was allergic to them.... I kept looking for a solution around that because I've always had some feline in my life, and eventually stumbled across the Siberian breed. Not the most practical breed to have in Texas, but unless they lick my hubby, he has no reaction to them (vs. strong reaction to every other cat encountered).

They're the most unique cats I've ever met - everything from chasing frisbees and wearing a harness/leash without complaint (Asmodeus) to the cat who only spoke in baby kitten noises until she was well over a year and a half old (Discordia). She's also on a enduring campaign to eat the cornsnakes, but aside from that....

Is Asmodeus named after the tom in Geoffrey Household's book, Rogue male? I always thought I'd name a black tomcat that one day

Hey, not a problem! :) I'm a crazy cat lady, and I figured there would be some other cat people on the boards. I put 2 and 2 together. LOL
I don't want to post a loooong response again, so i'd like to tell everyone their cats are absolutely gorgeous, and I love them.

Boy, we sure do have some beautiful kitties in this thread. Makes me want another one oh so badly!! But the roomies would KILL me if I bring another furry pet into the house right now.

Such beautiful kitties!

I am such a sucker for anything with cute kitties - thanks for all of the great photos, everyone!

To Jynx - Good riddance! Anyone who would separate mom and baby at 3 weeks is somebody you are lucky to be rid of, lol!

To Maize - where in Florida will you be moving to?

Here is one of my 2 kitties - his name is Monster (he can be one at times!). Looks like a Maine coon, but is just a kitty. I also have a beautiful, old Persian, but can't find any photos of him.

yay i love kitties! here are mine

the first two pics are of my own cat pumpkin who is turning 13. i have had her since a tiny kitten when i was 7, and who is sadly battling advanced kidney disease right now :(. the first one is me when i got her for my birthday.

the second set is of our family cat Pete who is about 8 years old. he is totally wackooo.

and the black kitty-which is what we called her-is one we rescued off the streets in december for a few weeks until we were able to find her a new home-though we did try to find any orginal owners. she was running around our neighborhood scared and after like 3 weeks of coaxing with food i was able to catch her-and as soon as she realized we weren't going to hurt her she was the most cuddliest people cat you could want!

Me too! I love everyone's kitties! I want to get a Savannah but I'm afraid the management here would freak out. I'll have to wait until we buy a home.... someday.... LOL

Kathy, your Monster looks like my Hawthorn! ... And apparently they share a similar attitude. I like to call my youngest my "lesser evil". He's fine and loving with me now... but will bite and claw anyone else who tries to hold him.:(

Kathy, I also think Monster looks like my cat, Drew. It's kind of scary how similar they look(ed) alike. The only difference IMO is the eye color.

I love posting cat pictures, so you guys can tell me if i've gone overboard!

All my kitties are all from shelters or rescue fondations.

This is Molly, she is my 14 year old Seal Point. My number one kitty, don't tell the other cats, but I love her the most!

This is Yuki, the biggest cat I have ever seen, I think he's mixed with a wildcat. He walks around at night 'talking' to himself.

This is Neko...he is a COMPLAINER! Cutest little guy ever though, funniest little kitten I've ever had! Yuki and Neko conspire all night to get food...I found Neko in the cupboard where I hide their food at night. Having successfully knocked over the food bowl was dropping pieces of food down to Yuki...

Sorry to drag this back up....but I finally got ahold of some of my kitty pics.

But first let me say to shorty I want your seal point!!!!1!

Ok...

Here are pics of Leia as a kitty...I don't think I have any current pics of her though (she's about 5 now)

Wow! Drew REALLY DOES look like Monster! Amazing!

Orlando is not bad - lots of stuff to do there. At least you can have any color corns here, not just amels and snows like in NJ! I will probably see you at some of the shows. Be sure to come to Daytona - it is so close to Orlando.

Those kitties are absolutely gorgeous! I love the hefty looking Siamese kitties. Not to say that the slender lean kitties aren't pretty, but I like a kitty with some fluff! They make better pillows!

Shorty, everyone says that about Gabriel too... even my vet. His jaw dropped when I took Gabriel out of the cage to get his 2 year check-up. Its just odd... I know he's a big guy, but I didn't think he was THAT big. Apparently, 30 pound kitties aren't that common. My vet even tested him for pituitary gland issues. He said he could understand it if Gabriel was fat, but he's really not. Thankfully everything came back fine, so I just stick with the "eating his siblings in the womb" story :grin01:

Aisha is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous Zoo! I love love love blue eyes kitties! Her face kinda reminds me of Gabriel's, minus the tiger stripes :)

Is she playing with a real hedgehog lol?!
