Well here was the conversation on this end, 'Oh! my gawd he got it out, he got it out' and I was teary eyed then hubby says 'I hope so if he's on the computer' then I started laughing and crying. Silly old people on this end mind always in the gutter.

Tomorrow...when I attempt to do the procedure again...I'll have someone Take pics...to give everyone a clear picture of what needs to happen for this to work. Assuming I can find an aditional set of hands.

10 Beers for you! If only I lived nearby... maybe some "moose drool" - my favorite. This is fantastic news!!!

sweet! and when that egg hatches (if it does) you can name the hatchie "trouble"... XD

let's hope she can pass the next one, maybe it'll be closer to the size of the others... if it were me i'd try offering a small meal to get her through her shed before a proper full sized meal, especially if she seems thin at all. if she doesn't take it then i guess you'd have to wait till after the shed ;_; I don't think it would hurt to try though :)

Oh...she's Super thin...this whole ordeal has taken it's toll on her for sure.

yeah, now that you mention it, 10 is maybe a bit... zealous... but nevertheless, you deserve some serious party time (maybe some ice cream?) :D

Just got to read the post sice earlier this evening! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy for you. Can't wait to see if she passes the rest for you overnight.

Best wishes!

Glad the first one came out so easily. I bet it was easier than you thought, lol! Now you can teach your vet how to do it! Hope the 2nd one comes out on its own, or at least is easy to repeat the procedure for.

So far, I don't remember ever having a stuck egg turn out fertile. But I suppose it must happen occasionally.

Good luck!

I must of made a wrong turn,,,,is this the DYK thread??

LOL,

Yeah..I know..right?? this thread has become a monster!!....and to think...we ain't even got pippies yet..not for a LONG time! :) we could hit 10,000 views by then??? LOL

I think I read somewhere recently that eggs that don't come out naturally never hatch, but it doesn't hurt to try! Don't ask me questions about candling- I can't do it. If my candling results were accurate I wouldn't have hatched anything last year.

I wouldn't feed her till at least 12 hours after any messing around down there. She will probably still take a meal of a couple fuzzies before she goes blue. About the weight loss- it's -normal_ for a snake to lose 150-200 grams with a clutch- it's very horrifying to see that for the first time! Don't worry, she'll gain it back in a couple months. And remember most of the former weight was eggs. AFter laying I usually feed the mommas every seven days for a while, till fall maybe. A really think one I might go every five days with a smaller prey item like a weanling or 20-21 gram adult. I start off with two fuzzies or small hoppers, then a small adult, then back to regular adults. She'll go blue very quickly now. And don't forget the second clutch that will appear, if it's going to, right when the babies are hatchling!

I use a pen light. Just place the light right against the egg. You don't even have to move the eggs. The room needs to be fairly dark, and the eggs should be at least a week old, maybe even a little more. If the egg is good, you should see veins quite visible, and the egg will have a pinkish glow. If the egg has a yellow or white glow, and no veins are visible, it's probably not fertilized, even if the shell looks good and white. However I usually leave it untill they start to mold.

Congratulations on your success Rich! If you can get some good pictures on the proceedure, that would be awesome!

Whew!!! Well that was a lot of catching up to do! ;) I'm SO GLAD to hear the procedure went well and that 2nd to last egg is out:spinner:
I hope everything goes on it's way up now ;) and by the way I love that she now has a name and it is Zena!!! :D
YAY!!!! Here's to more good news to come!!!!! ;)

I finally had a chance to catch up on this thread and ... YAY!!
I'm so happy for you, Rich- and for Zena!
It is so spectacular that you were able to call Kathy and have her walk you through the procedure!
It is so nice to be a part of a community who has each other's backs!

I have enjoyed reading this thread, it really brings the emotionality (is that a word?) of breeding alive. :)
