My first tattoo! =] Everyone, show 'em off!

1st (very large) Tattoo and it's a Snake!!!

So if you have been following this thread I posted my tattoo design a little while ago. But today I got my first Ink. After 6hrs and lots of pain I have an amazing tattoo that I'm sure I will love more after it heals and I accept the idea that it's never coming off. Parents weren't too happy about it but it's not on their body so oh well (btw this was for my 22nd b-day which is the end of this month) Anywho here's the finished work, let me know what you think :D

Thanks everyone I still can't believe I did it lol My artist used the design I gave him he just made the flowers look a bit better. He said he was impressed that I took the time to draw it out, figure out the placement etc. good thing to because he wouldn't have had the time to draw it up for me. So now I have my own design on me forever!

Is your Avatar the snake in your tattoo?

Yes that's Zafrina my jungle corn, I got her last year for my 21st B-day and I thought her pattern would make the prettiest tattoo. She is really yellow and black in real life but I wanted the tattoo black and grey, wouldn't have been able to handle color on the whole thing I don't think.

Gorgeous Kelsie! U are braver than me. I didn't like the one spot near my ankle on my leg tattoos and they weren't even right on the bone either just above it and the little pinch was uncomfortable till he went up higher so I doubt I will do anything any lower.
Don't worry about what other people think. It is your body and you have to live with it not them.

How do you guys afford major tattoos like that? Doesn't it cost like $100/hour? Maybe some day...

My arm tattoo was $300. Mine took 12 hrs over 3 sessions. He didn't think it would take more than 4! But as he got into it he added more coloring and shading until he was happy with it
He bascially charges $60 per hr.depending on the design. He designed my arm tattoo from pics I gave him. My next one will probably be my other arm. I think I am getting a guardian angel with her holding the teal ovarian cancer ribbon in honor of my mom who died from it in 08. That's the plan anyway. Mike has to get his first one first. The artist is designing it now.

My artist charges $100 an hour for smaller pieces. For a large, multi session piece, it's a flat rate and I pay a couple hundred bucks each time.

That is probably my favorite snake tattoo ever!!! I want it!!

Thank you :D It cost 300 since that's what the artist quoted me, but he seriously underestimated it, really it's worth like 600. The only reason why he did it all in one session for me yesterday was because I was visiting my home town and was leaving today. Good thing too I'm not sure if I would have wanted to go back in, wasn't sure I would make it till the end :/ didn't feel good at all, but I lived lol and the finished product is amazing!

Gini: I thought I was going to design a tattoo for you (or mike ;) ) lol I could do one for the both of you, let me know, I did design my own after all :D

I squirrel money away each month. My artist charges $135/hr which is pretty common where I live - some charge more, the crappy ones charge less.

My artist doesn't charge outrageous prices but he isn't dirt cheap either. He is far from crappy. I have had some people tell me my arm piece would be 600 in a lot of places.

And Kelsie you can defintley design my next one. I know exactly what I want just not how to put it on paper. Mke is designing his own I think. It is something with his welding helmet

Now I match! A tattoo on each bicep. Here's my new one. Its based on the design on PJ's web-site. Sarah Sheetz did it from Wandering Canvas in Dallastown, Red Lion. She got a little carried away and I'm glad she did!

What do you think???

Ohhh, tattoos. One of my favorite subjects. I only have pictures of 2 of 4 of my tattoos, the others being a third eye in waves on my ankle, and 4 koi fish in a lily pond on my left upper arm, without black outline.

Pardon the flash and the general blurriness, it's hard to take a picture of your own arm.

LOL When it comes to the pain its hard to describe. I have a tatto that goes onto my butt and the outline was horrible!!! but the color felt like he was scratching an itch!!! it was awesome hahaha the pain also travels its wierd
