stupid breeders why cant you just leave things be

I don't understand what is so hard to understand about how Beth felt. I also think hybrids are cool and will some day breed some myself. But how can anyone not see what she is talking about? She felt lied to and cheated for not being told a snake is what it is. Then in turn unknowingly lied and cheated others. That would make me sick to my stomach but I hate lairs and cheaters. Would I be devastated? No probably not but it would bother me. However, I can take those same principle and apply it to something that would devastate me and understand where Beth is coming from.

I think that is the biggest point that everyone misses from all these debates lately. We don't have to agree but we can learn from each other and understand what the other one is talking about. We might change something that we do in consideration for the other. For example I agree with Beth that non of the corn hybrids should be called Corns. So if you start labeling your snakes as KingXCorn instead of Jungle corns that might make Beth (just using you as an example) happy and in turn when she comes across someone looking for a Jungle Corn she will refer them to you because you make sure the buyer knows what they are getting.

I don't know just a thought. :shrugs:

I think that was the smartest post in the while thread. It will never go away, but making it easier for people to see what's what can help protect the animals I love.

All I have to say to this is...so what?

I sincerely doubt that Thomas's actions are going to bring down the Florida Kings... If so, then logic would dictate the first hybrid cross of corns would have brought down the trade ages ago.

Doug, we totally get that you are passionate about "pure" things. Just take it easy.

Yes, I know......"so what?" indeed :shrugs:

I realize it won't bring the entire Florida king trade crashing down to it's knees, but it's simply one more cancerous element in the whole equation that never needed to be added to it. That is all I'm saying. I am not out to change anyone's mind here either, and never was, I'm just very adamant on stating facts that can get taken as condescending or arrogant. If others that read this thread can pick up and apply anything I've posted thus far, then it served a great purpose in my opinion.

Here's some snakes I'm also very proud of........

It's all in how you word it. I'm certain you have some excellent points, but I stopped reading because of all the snark. I do not doubt for a second that you are immensely proud of what you produce. Maybe I will go back and read more of your posts.

You have some good information, people will be more inclined to read and take it in, if a little less abrasiveness is in there.

Using calculated and well timed abrasiveness for comedic effect is another matter, you can be very funny in that respect.

Don't change who you are, just be judicious with the snark, it will make it 10 times more effective.

Just imagine what mine and Gerard's good "buddy" (sarcasm) Thomas Davis' mutt breeding MBK (L.g.nigrita) x white-sided Florida kings will be doing later on down the road as they get carelessly dispersed around the country. Later on MBK and Desert king (L.g.splendida) breeders with the real thing will be producing odd white-side looking garbage from there thought to be authentic clutches. By thos very same token, other Florida king breeders around the country will later be popping out bizarre looking hypermelanistic so-called "floridana". And all of these will trace directly back to this clown Davis. This is what WILL happen in a few more years. Those mutts he is all proud of selling are more variable looking than circus freak show. Some look like splendida phenotypes, others like drab, dark floridana, and anything in between. His mojor goal of producing this worthless "Black back" king project is going to later be responsible for spoiling many countless authentic clutches in a few more years when others grow his mutt offspring up. Not just a few either, but by the countless folds because these mutts will be multiplied many times over as those babie's babies mature and are bred too.

Sweet stuff for sure :nope:

Warning: I am sorry that someone decided that I was NOT serious about my admonition concerning personally derogatory statements made here. The ban is only for three days, and I do hope my suggestion is taken seriously from here on out.

Chris, great post. I do think however that all pro hybrid members in this discussion do agree that labeling right is important. Further, concerning Bethany's case, I wanted to say that I would be bothered most by the idea that I was lied to, if that was the case. I do hate lying.

I also wanted to address the breeding hybrids has no benefits statement. The benefit is that their fans can enjoy them. Just like pure or naturally occurring cb snakes can be enjoyed by their fans, no more, no less. I do not see any more noble goals for both.

So with all this Ultra, hybrid upset....

I have, what I believe to be, an ultra female. I also have amels from Love bloodlines. As well as white oak greys and grey rats.

Should I actually breed a known Ultra back to a Grey rat?

Would that actually prove anything more than what is known now?

I have bred my greys with sign of anything funny. I have bred amels with no funny variations. I have bred butters, fires, and caramels with nothing questionable.

If I breed an amel corn to a grey rat and I dont get any ultras, does that prove anything? Or do I have to do this for 20 yrs with no results and still be told ultras are hybrids? Or will would we actually see an ultra?

Just asking, not trying to cause any fights. I have been out of the loop so to speak for awhile now.

That's exactly it! That's what we have them for in the first place. Yes, I too hate dishonesty and hate to be 'tricked', for lack of a better word, into buying something that wasn't what I thought it was. But that goes for everything I purchase, when I'm stuck basing my purchase off of only the seller's word.

I think we all do and have understood each other's perspectives here, since back on page 2... just not agreed with it for the reasons provided.
Species, families, subfamilies.... all HUMAN definitions and divisions.

Say you caught a corn along the edge of the Appalachian Mountains (WC) believe it is pure, breed it into a plethora of your stock... sell the babies and then run a genetic test on it for fun to... lo-and-behold, find out that it has grey rat genetics! Oh no, your corn's grandparents on one side happened to be a naturally occurring cross between a grey rat and a cornsnake! Your animal you caught and bred into so much of your stock that you sold as "pure".... Has that changed anything? Would you kill the animal? Would knowing this change anything?
BECAUSE IT DOES HAPPEN!

You seem to have mixed reasons for repping Tara, Barones :p

Nah. I just thought her post was brilliant. *wink*

YES!! It comes down to trusting the seller and labeling correctly.

Indeed! The intergrades can occur in the wild. I personally work with king snake intergrades. Who's to say they are truly separated by much more than human labels?

The last part sums it up to a T. Perfect, perfect way to lay it out.

Has anyone else noticed it's really peaceful around here all of a sudden.

I wonder why?

These are some random pics of some hybrids and an absolutely gorgeous grey band I found on the net.

Of course I enjoy the peaceful and civil discussion that is going on now.

I'm just stating my observation.

Btw, awesome turtles.
