stupid breeders why cant you just leave things be

Albinism does occur in virtually every vertebrate * (and even in many INvertebrates - essentially in ANYTHING that can produce melanin) on this earth, even people! Native Americans viewed the white buffalo as sacred and would celebrate when one would pop out. It was considered a very fortuitous event.

Ah, interesting. Was this whole clutch albino? I am curious now if albino's occur in nature?

I produced them, my original ones were wc.

Tara80, very true about albinism occurring naturally. I'm pretty sure I once found an albino earthworm, I've also caught albino fish from the wild.

Gerard, man you killing me with those turtle pics.

They are caught in the wild all the time. This is one of my wc albino Cuban tree frogs.

CZ is lab created diamonds,
Maybe I'm being *really* pedantic, but...

Cubic Zirconia is crystalline zirconium dioxide.
Diamond is crystalline carbon.

They are not the same thing - no more than quartz and diamond are. Now, what CZ can be called is a "cheaper substitute for diamond."

Ball Pythons don’t have sub-species they intergrade with. While there are locality types like sub-saharans, Togo, Ghana and Benin localities are all still Python regius.

Is that because ball localities haven't been DESCRIBED as subspecies, or because they're actually not subspecies? This is where the whole intergrade thing gets tetchy, because we as humans are labelling them "the same species" - but if they're morphologically distinctive, there might be an argument for splitting them into subspecies, the same as was done to some of the N.A. colubrid species. We want a box to put them in; we've lumped ball pythons all into the same box (for now, unless someone decides to do a study that might or might not put them into separate boxes!), but separated out the N.A. colubrids into individual boxes.

And, just like those N.A. colubrid species (or the various subspecies of E. macularius) they'll quite happily interbreed with individuals from other populations (or subspecies, or species) in captivity.

On the subject of albinos in the wild, something a bit closer to our collective interests, is the population of albino Japanese Rat Snake, known as the Iwakuni White Snakes, or the "white generals." The entire population has been listed as a National Monument since 1924.
I have one of their non-albino cousins. :)

I had a climacophora a while back. Awesome snakes! Mine was about 6'5". I still want to go to Japan and visit that preserve.

The conversation has moved on from this, but.

I was repeating what was told to me by a few people in the Geology Dept. of my School..

Wow , great thread , well except for the single minded exstremist almost natzi mentality views of a few people.

im loving some of those hybrids.
personaly i think that any one would be really hard pressed to guarantee they have 100% pure, all you have is the breeders word on genetic make up, not only that, anyone can say they caught this or that in the wild and take a photo shoot of captive bred snakes in a wild situation to pass them off as so called pure or locality types. how the hell are you going to prove other wise.
some very big names in the reptile community over the years have played with hybrids, (Bechtel) 70's being one amongst many, what do you think happened to all the offspring.

AZ.

Welcome to the forum.

While your enthusiasm is appreciated, the heavy handed "nazi" comment is not. This thread was over, both sides reaching amiable "agree to disagree" stances, I'm not certain why you chose to necro it with such an inflammatory response.

You may have the best information around, or some great point that no one had thought of, but you chose to lead with a harsh derisive statement. Which in turn makes you look exactly like the single minded extremist you were speaking out against.

If you have input to the topic, awesome! Go nuts! If you are trying to re-start the flame-war, I guarantee you will be met by an icy reception.

Autumn, I think there is a good chance you can find this one in a hovel under a bridge.....imo.....

AZ, I am not impressed with your introduction to the forum. Please take a moment to review the various stickies about the rules here. You can find them in the New Members section. In this thread, in particular, the owner of the site, Rich Z, was forced to issue a warning:

Warning: The derogatory name calling WILL cease here, or offenders will be escorted OUT the door. If you cannot remain civil in this thread, then perhaps you need to think about abandoning this topic entirely before it gets you into hot water.

Thank you,

Ok maybe a little harsh from me , but i did say (almost) aswell.
the thread was great reading, but i can say that some comments of hatred and ridicule towards people that breed hybrids also affects me, as i breed a couple of hybrids.

sorry for the strong first post.
and thankyou for the welcome

AZ

I think you'll find plenty of other hybrid breeders here as well AZ, hence the heated debate which you read. It got out of hand in places but as has been observed, all involved departed on reasonable terms.

You'll be in some fine company here as a hybrid breeder.

Anyway - welcome!

Warning: I am sorry that someone decided that I was NOT serious about my admonition concerning personally derogatory statements made here. The ban is only for three days, and I do hope my suggestion is taken seriously from here on out.

Bethany, how is it that you are immune to the site rules which the rest of us adhere to?
