Obama Youth?

Mike, while a 'direct quote' may not be in this thread. The title you chose for this thread is "Obama Youth" it is a clear reference to "Hitler Youth". Please don't backpeddle and try to say that isn't what you inferred, If you're going to make threads with antagonizing titles, have the decency to admit it.

Here is what I said in the OP.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/02/critics-decry-obamas-lesson-plan-students/

Is this the beginning of the Obama youth program? You know, I am not saying that the guy is going to commit some type of genocide, it is just spooky the number of similarities this man has with Hitler.

It should be quite obvious that the term "Obama Youth" was in fact used to reference the Hitler youth program. And like I said, there are still many similarities between Obama and Hitler. I really do not understand how anyone can deny many of the similarities between Obama and Hitler. :shrugs: Of course many of the people who deny the similarities are the same people who have read none of Hitler's writings, or actually know anything about the man (besides the fact that he killed the Jews, we all know that, but he was the president/ruler of Germany before he rounded up and killed Jews). I guess it is as they say, "Ignorance is bliss."

A public education teacher, teaching students to sing the praises of a man? No, not indoctrination. :toiletgra

I could care less what a parent teaches their child, they want to teach them that Obama is Christ, fine, they want to teach them that Obama is the anti-Christ, fine, that is their choice, I may not agree with it, but it is their choice none-the-less. For a teacher, or for the DOE to teach children songs, glorifying a man, any man, or for them to release questions that are clearly being used to direct a type of answer, that is wrong.

A public education teacher, teaching students to sing the praises of a man?

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.

He said to his friend, "If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,--
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm."

Then he said "Good-night!" and with muffled oar
Silently rowed to the Charlestown shore,
Just as the moon rose over the bay,
Where swinging wide at her moorings lay
The Somerset, British man-of-war;
A phantom ship, with each mast and spar
Across the moon like a prison bar,
And a huge black hulk, that was magnified
By its own reflection in the tide.

Meanwhile, his friend through alley and street
Wanders and watches, with eager ears,
Till in the silence around him he hears
The muster of men at the barrack door,
The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet,
And the measured tread of the grenadiers,
Marching down to their boats on the shore.

Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church,
By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread,
To the belfry chamber overhead,
And startled the pigeons from their perch
On the sombre rafters, that round him made
Masses and moving shapes of shade,--
By the trembling ladder, steep and tall,
To the highest window in the wall,
Where he paused to listen and look down
A moment on the roofs of the town
And the moonlight flowing over all.

Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead,
In their night encampment on the hill,
Wrapped in silence so deep and still
That he could hear, like a sentinel's tread,
The watchful night-wind, as it went
Creeping along from tent to tent,
And seeming to whisper, "All is well!"
A moment only he feels the spell
Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread
Of the lonely belfry and the dead;
For suddenly all his thoughts are bent
On a shadowy something far away,
Where the river widens to meet the bay,--
A line of black that bends and floats
On the rising tide like a bridge of boats.

Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride,
Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride
On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere.
Now he patted his horse's side,
Now he gazed at the landscape far and near,
Then, impetuous, stamped the earth,
And turned and tightened his saddle girth;
But mostly he watched with eager search
The belfry tower of the Old North Church,
As it rose above the graves on the hill,
Lonely and spectral and sombre and still.
And lo! as he looks, on the belfry's height
A glimmer, and then a gleam of light!
He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns,
But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight
A second lamp in the belfry burns.

A hurry of hoofs in a village street,
A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark,
And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark
Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet;
That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light,
The fate of a nation was riding that night;
And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight,
Kindled the land into flame with its heat.
He has left the village and mounted the steep,
And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep,
Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides;
And under the alders that skirt its edge,
Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge,
Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides.

It was twelve by the village clock
When he crossed the bridge into Medford town.
He heard the crowing of the cock,
And the barking of the farmer's dog,
And felt the damp of the river fog,
That rises after the sun goes down.

It was one by the village clock,
When he galloped into Lexington.
He saw the gilded weathercock
Swim in the moonlight as he passed,
And the meeting-house windows, black and bare,
Gaze at him with a spectral glare,
As if they already stood aghast
At the bloody work they would look upon.

It was two by the village clock,
When he came to the bridge in Concord town.
He heard the bleating of the flock,
And the twitter of birds among the trees,
And felt the breath of the morning breeze
Blowing over the meadow brown.
And one was safe and asleep in his bed
Who at the bridge would be first to fall,
Who that day would be lying dead,
Pierced by a British musket ball.

You know the rest. In the books you have read
How the British Regulars fired and fled,---
How the farmers gave them ball for ball,
From behind each fence and farmyard wall,
Chasing the redcoats down the lane,
Then crossing the fields to emerge again
Under the trees at the turn of the road,
And only pausing to fire and load.

So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,---
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

INDOCTRINATION!!!!! :rolleyes:

I'm not a Christian, but this was a good read! Very true in many senses, and it's made reading back on this thread enlightening. I internalize the message as no body is right in this discussion, because the fundamentals of our beliefs are being fought to condemn someone who condemns us. We have too much pride not to retaliate, even if it goes against the self righteousness we think we have. So instead of going back to our ideal logic, and expectations for ourselves, we vicariously try to build up our own kingdoms separate ourselves from what we believe in to fight each other, in a war that has gone off track from defending our beliefs.
How could I agree with some of the sarcasm, and sometimes flat out personal attacks, simply because it is against those who may have done the same to me. It's flat out wrong, even if it was directed at someone who may say the same thing.
When I first heard a comment in which someone suggested another member kill them self, I was severely put off. But I was hesitant to post negatively about it, based on past disagreements of the person it was directed at. I figured I had better keep in good stead with the member who said it, simply because the other person has said ridiculous things to me.
So I will apologize to the member who received this inappropriate comment, on the behalf of someone who may feel too self righteous to apologize themselves.
At the end of the day, who are we really blaming our troubles on. 99% of the time it should be ourselves, so if it's disproportionately aimed elsewhere, then I think we're looking at the wrong one.

Well, nobody has said that Glen Beck raped and murdered a little girl in 1990, but the fact that he hasn't come out and said that he didn't rape and murder a little girl in 1990 is something that shouldn't be discounted.

Wow really? Are you talking about that internet document that used the exact same crap for the Duke rape allegations? :toiletgra

Excellent post Micheal I too felt that that article/reading was very good. :cool: Can't rep you again yet unfortunately...

Brent, thank you for posting that reading it was very interesting and I think it applies very well to many of the threads here.

That would be history, not current events.

And exactly how would that make it different to a 4th grader?

Until primary schoolchildren get lessons on how George Washington Chopping Down The Cherry Tree And Not Telling A Lie™ is a complete fabrication, when kids at the dinner table tell their parents about how they learned in school today that Benjamin Franklin Was A Party Animal Who Had Illegitimate Children™, there will ALWAYS be an "indoctrination" of sorts to promote civic pride. It happens. But a 4th grader better also be taught the critical thinking skills in 9th grade to realize that what he was taught in 4th grade was Not Necessarily The Entire Truth™.

Mike,

I have to admit that I actually had seen "Obama Youth?" used as the title for the article/news piece on the in-school speech before I ever logged on and saw this and originally thought that is why you used the thread title. I have to admit that I don't think you believe or have said that Obama is Hitler and I also agree that there are similarities as we've all discussed on here before. I think that everybody has actually admitted that there are some similarities in terms of the way the two began their careers as the head-of-state. We've also mentioned that there are others that could have the same said about them and HAVE had the same said about them. That's why I guess I don't understand what all of the extreme huff and puff about it is. The democrats have been calling Bush a fascist and hitler for years. Now the shoe is flipped and those who are saying Obama is are now evil? Come on...

Hey, Mike...the bottom line...in your opening post of this thread, you "implied" in the title that Obama was comparable to Hitler, and later one, made the bold comparison, in plain writing, that there were a lot of "similarities". Please...educate me, and explain to me how, precisely, Obama being elecvted President of the U.S. in a free Democratic society, and using the powers that are granted him by the Constitution to initiate change through the proper channels, is even remotely, in any way, shape, or form, like or comparable to Hitler, or the Rise of Nazi Germany. If you can succinctly and without bias point that connection out to me, I will poitely and respectfully bow out of this and every other "political debate" you participate in.

Peyton--
There is a HUGE difference between using any means necessary to educate children to stay in school and be proud of the country they live in...and using a horrible attack on American Soil as a basis for a fake war, an implication of a blanket policy that disregards Human Civil Rights, and the establishment of not only a POW camp, but torture tactics and techniques, all of which were obtained under the guise of information that was known to be false at the time, and under tyhe ruse of "National Security".

And even still...I heard very few comparisons that called Bush "Hitler". Though his changes and efforts were certainly closer to totalitarian in nature than ANYthing Obama has proposed...

I heard and saw references to Bush being called Hitler and a fascist all the time and I live in a conservative state. Guantanamo Bay was a "POW" camp long before Bush was ever in office and people have been using torture tactics and techniques for centuries. I understand that you feel that Bush went to extreme lengths under the implication that it was to prevent terrorist attacks from occurring. Have there been any (until the many, close attempts this week, funny how that has started occurring again) terrorist attacks on the US? Is there mass genocide still occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as WMD testing on civilian populations? To be honest, if you're talking via email or PM about blowing up the Zachry building at Texas A&M, a place I study often, I hope to God they knock down your door and pry your fingernails up with bamboo trying to make sure it doesn't occur. If you don't want this to happen, don't talk about it.

You've made this claim that Bush imprisoned everybody who was anti-Bush and anti-War but I see everybody at NBC still at it as well as the millions of others who protested. I also have not seen you post one, documented shred of evidence to back up any of your statements, yet you and Dale continue to NEED to see resources for ANY statement I make that concerns some sort of facts. I hope that you will see that I have tried to swing closer to the moderate part of the road in this and other threads commenting on the fact that this crap has been flung back and forth between parties for years DEAL WITH IT! Just because its finally "your guy"
in office taking the crap don't think that the Dems never did it and its all just the evil, misguided conservatives.

As a final note to Mr. Morrison, I would like to point out your load of absolute trash about the fact that its because Obama is black is the lowest you have stooped in this thread. The man HIMSELF has said that he doesn't feel like it has been that large of an issue since he has been in office. Pelosi has said it as well! It's just Jimbo Carter (The WORST president in recent history), you, and a few others who are still flinging this load. Drop the race card, its no longer necessary and I would have to say that if anything it has been working in his favor.

Mike, How about we consider a few differences for a moment:

If Hitler were alive today in the United States, he would probably have a following, be going to Tea parties and complaining about pretty much the same things you are.

Now, If Obama had lived during Hitler's reign he would've probably gotten to watch his daughters and wife raped and murdered and he would've, if he was lucky, been sent to a concentration camp for slave labor and eventually murdered as well, with the possibility of having his body fat rendered into a bar of soap.

I really never should've responded to an internet thread that compares anyone to Hitler, that line of reasoning is well known to be the first flag any fanatic waves.

I understand that Dale. I don't think your post was necessary as I was asking him a question. I also don't think the comment is relevant in hindsight as Mike has SAID that he never said Obama was Hitler. Thus, he did come out and address it. You're "wisdom" must have been misplaced for the moment as you felt that my "boyishness" was coming out again. Once again you never fail to prove your ultimate place in this forum. :dunce:
